Contract Management Support Training Program

NSITE’s Contract Management Support (CMS) training program provides people who are blind with the technical skills needed for high-growth career opportunities in contract administration. Through a partnership with the Department of Defense’s Defense Acquisition University, participants in the CMS training program gain the skills needed to fulfill a critical need for qualified specialists to close-out executed government contracts. CMS graduates working in the AbilityOne Contract Management Support Program have identified more than $2 billion for de-obligation for the Department of Defense, and over 100 have been hired for permanent positions with the federal government and private sector organizations like Boeing and Northrup Grumman.

We now offer CMS foundational self-paced Training below and the new CMS 101 Cohort Training which is advanced CMS training.

Qualifications

Please be sure that you meet all the following before applying:

  • U.S. citizen
  • Legally blind (can still apply if not legally blind)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Outlook computer skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft excel computer skills
  • Highly proficient using adaptive technology such as screen readers, JAWS or Zoom Text

Online Training

The AbilityOne Program has partnered with the Department of Defense’s Defense Acquisition University (DAU) to provide the core training courses required to establish a foundation on contract management.

NEW-NSITE/NIB CMS 101 Cohort Training

NSITE’s Contract Management Support 101 Cohort advanced training program provides people who are blind with the technical skills needed for high-growth career opportunities in contract administration. Through a partnership with NSITE and NIB participants in the CMS 101 Cohort training program gain the additional skills needed to fulfill a critical need for qualified specialists to close-out executed government contracts.

COST: $3600.00

Start Date: Fall 2024 or Feb 2025

  • Legally Blind preferred

Cohort Outline

The Training outline consists of 1 month of learning that puts you on a path of being ready to apply for or excel in a current CMS role.

  • CMS 101 Kick-off Meeting
  • DAU pre-requisite online courses
  • CMS Virtual Instructor Led Courses
    • Intro to Contracts & Contract Administration
    • Firm Fixed Price Contracts (incl. FFP Contract Closeout)
    • Cost Plus Contracts (incl. CP Contract Closeout)
  • Optional online Courses
